GREW BIG TO ACHIEVE HER PURPOSE, THE MUSIC. SHE HAS FOUND HER WAY.
SOLEIL SAYS: „I OWE IT ALL
TO MY DADDY, ONE OF MY GREATEST TEACHER. THOSE LATE NIGHT SESSIONS, FROM 6 TO
10 YEARS OF AGE IN CHICAGO WITH MY DAD ON PIANO AND VOICE, WAS SO MUCH FUN!
THEN THE FATHER OF SOUL,
MY 1ST CONCERT VISIT AT THE REGEL THEATER IN CHICAGO WITH MR. JAMES BROWN ON
HIS 1ST TOUR. I WAS 8 YEARS, HE LEFT A GREAT FOOTPRINT IN MY LIFE.
AND EDDIE HARRIS, WHO
SPENT A LOT OF TIME IN MY AUNT CHLOE´S
KITCHEN, CELEBRATING LOTS OF SUCCESS WITH HIS MUSIC, WAS ANOTHER BIG
INFLUENCE IN MY EARLY LIFE. I HAD TO GO TO BED, BUT I WAS LOOKING THROUGH THE
KEY HOLE ALL NIGHT.
MY AUNT CHLOE, WHO WAS
ALSO A BIG MENTOR FOR ME, GAVE A FISH FRY EVERY FRIDAY NIGHT. MANY ARTIST,CALLED
FRIENDS, SUCH AS DINAH WASHINGTON AND JOHNNY GUITAR WATSON WERE HER GUESTS.CATFISH, COLE SLAW AND SPAGHETTI AND MY BIG EARS BEHIND THE DOOR!
I GREW UP. I JOINED MANY
CHURCH CHOIRS. MY GRANDFATHER WAS A PREACHER. THE LOVE FOR THE SPIRITUAL WORLD
AWAKEND IN MY LIFE. IN MY CATHOLIC CHURCH I MET OSCAR BROWN JR..I WORKED WITH
HIM IN A PROJECT AND WE GOT AN EMMY FOR OUR MUSIC.
THE NEXT CHAPTER IN MY
LIFE WAS ABOUT BANDS AND BAND CONTESTS AND WINS. I GOT THE CHANCE TO WORK WITH
BILLY PRESTON AND LINDA HOPKINS, TWO GREAT TEACHERS FOR ME.
ONE DAY LINDA HOPKINS JUST
SAID,“ TODAY YOU WILL SING WITH ME AT THE HOUSE OF BLUES IN LOS ANGELES.“ WHAT
A GREAT LESSON AND EXPIRIENCE FOR ME.
I GREW UP WITH MICHAEL
JACKSON´S MUSIC. HE IS VERY IMPORTANT IN MY LIFE. HIS LYRICS OPENED MY HEART
AND HIS GIFT WAS A GATE FOR ME TO FOLLOW MY DREAMS. WHERE THINGS SEEMED TO BE
IMPOSSIBLE, HE SHOWED ME THE POSSIBLE.
AND IT GOES ON AND ON.BUT
MY GREATEST TEACHER IS JESUS. WHEN YOU MAKE LOVING OTHERS THE STORY OF YOUR
LIFE THERE IS NEVER A FINAL CHAPTER. THE LEGACY CONTINUES. YOU LEND YOUR LIGHT
TO ONE PERSON AND HE SHINES IT ON ANOTHER AND IT GOES ON AND ON.“
